Harvesting geothermal resources often require technologies that are not yet fully developped. Geothermal Explorers is a spearhead company in R+D for enhanced geothermal systems (EGS). Budgets for single plant projects do rarely allow a comprehensive seismic campaign to determine optimal sites.

We advocate therefore – where indicated –combined exploration programms for geothermal and other resources, particularly gas. Geothermal and gas reservoirs both require permeable formations. Both resources occur in similar depth ranges.

This approach opens entirely new financing and risk sharing opportunities. Geothermal Explorers has been mandated by various energy companies to develop such plays in Switzerland.
