Since 2008 Markus Häring is an elected member of the Swiss Federal Geological commission (EGK). EGK is an expert group advising the Federal cabinet and administration. EGK advises in principle geological questions of applied geology. Further tasks are the supply of geological facts and the noncommitted appraisal of geological problems.
