About us:

Geothermal Explorers Ltd (GEL) was founded in 1999 by Markus Häring. Trigger were the first field operations of the Deep Heat Mining project in Basel. The project for a first EGS pilot plant was initiated by the Deep Heat Mining Association headed by Markus Häring.

Between 2001 and 2006 GEL has drilled two reconnaissance wells: Otterbach 1 (570 m), Otterbach 2 (2'755 m), developed a microseismic monitoring system consisting of four additional wells (320 – 550 m) and has drilled Basel 1 to a depth of 5'000 m.

The know-how accumulated in the hitherto successful project has sparked international interest. This led to various consulting contracts with internationally operating energy companies in Germany, Australia and South Korea. In addition we have expanded our activities to a broader energy resource exploration, in particular gas and geothermal in combination.

Owing to our extended field of activity beyond geothermal energy like hydrocarbon exploration, subsurface gas storage and utilisation of ground water, we adapted our company name. Geothermal Energy became Geo Explorers, which better suits our broadly diversified portfolio.
